Now a member of the NZ Veteran Golfers Association, the Whakatane Vets have long been a very active
section at the Whakatane Golf Club. The men have a regular slot on Tuesday mornings when a field of +/- 32 members play a 'haggle', or compete for traditional club trophies. In addition, the Vets
host two 3-Day events per annum for visitors from all over New Zealand, plus special days hosting members from other clubs in the Bay of Plenty. In turn Whakatane Vets are regularly
invited to play in competitions at such clubs (See following notices).
Age is no obstacle to becoming a Vet, nor is a lack of previous experience. Many people only take up the game when in their sixties and whether they progress to handicaps in the low teens or
continue happily to play with the many other members who are on 24 or greater handicaps, everyone has fun.
